My name is Karen Covino and this is my “Before to Beyond” Story.

I am 60 years old and have been on a downward spiral for a few years. When I turned 52 I started having menopausal issues that completely changed me both physically and mentally.

I gained weight, so much that it felt like whatever I ate was just adding more and more pounds to my body. I am 5’9″ and my heaviest weight was 285. I was waking up every few hours to go to the bathroom; I tossed and turned all night and when I got up, I started each morning exhausted as soon as I got out of bed. I was put on medication for my high blood pressure and a water pill for my swollen ankles. I felt bloated and my clothes were VERY uncomfortable. My back hurts all the time. I was depressed and I didn’t want to go out or do anything. I had to buy my clothes at plus-size stores and went all the way up to a size 22. I honestly got to a point in my life where I was just giving up on myself. I thought, maybe this is what my life is supposed to be.

After my son got engaged, I really focused on losing weight. In my mind, I thought wedding pictures were something that people look at all the time and I didn’t want to ruin my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding by being fat. I focused on what I was eating and walked. I started losing weight. I lost 66 pounds before my son’s wedding. I still wasn’t at the healthy weight I wanted to be but all of a sudden everything came to a screeching halt. Everything I did to lose weight, wasn’t working anymore.

I was depressed, and again told myself maybe this is my life. Then I saw a post on Facebook that caught my attention—a friend of mine was sharing information about a product she had ordered to help her lose weight. She was looking for people who wanted to lose weight so we could motivate each other. I messaged her. She messaged me an informational video that I watched.
